Residential Solar Hot Air Systems

Solar air heating systems act as space heaters and can offset between 1-2 baseboards worth of electricity. Conserve NS provides a rebate on residential solar air systems.

Conserve Nova Scotia recommends you obtain three quotes before deciding on a solar system and contractor.

For systems installed May 1, 2010 or later:

Conserve NS provides a $500 rebate on new residential solar air heating systems.

Conserve NS also provides a rebate for commercial systems.

Program Description:

Effective May 1, 2010, Conserve Nova Scotia provides a $500 rebate on solar air systems. Eligible panels are listed on Natural Resources Canada's List of Accepted Solar Collectors.

Requirements:

• System was purchased and installed after May 1, 2010.
• System was installed according to industry best practice and manufacturer's instructions.
• System's make and model must be on the Natural Resources Canada List of Accepted Collectors.
• Applicant must own the house where the system is installed.
• Limit of one solar air heating rebate per eligible Nova Scotian household.
• The rebate only applies to items relating to the system and its installation. Backup heating systems, distribution systems or other non-related items do not qualify for the rebate.
• Conserve Nova Scotia reserves the right to decline installations where it is determined that the system will not meet performance potential; i.e. poor solar orientation.
• Legible copies of receipts and photos of the solar air system must be included with the application form.

Conserve NS recommends that those planning to install a solar thermal system obtain three quotes before deciding on a system and contractor.

Conserve Nova Scotia provides a 15% Solar Hot Air Rebate of the installed cost of a solar air heating system, to a maximum of $20,000.
