Incentives for Class 8 Heavy Duty Trucks

With funds from ecoNova Scotia for Clean Air and Climate Change, Conserve Nova Scotia is offering rebates to Class 8 trucking carriers and owner/operators for tractors and trailers registered and plated in Nova Scotia. These rebates are for new equipment that will help reduce fuel use, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and air pollutants. Eligible equipment includes:

  • Anti-idling devices
  • Aerodynamic improvements
  • Low rolling resistance tires
  • Tire pressure monitoring and inflation systems

Rebates range from 20-40% of the total cost, depending on the type of equipment. The maximum rebate per tractor or trailer is $2,500 + HST. Rebates must be pre-approved and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications must be submitted to the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association (APTA), the program administrator on behalf of Conserve Nova Scotia. The deadline for applications is July 30, 2010.
